The battery is the most expensive part
On most electric rides the battery is the single costliest component, and how you treat it in the first year sets its lifespan. A few habits make the difference between a pack that lasts and one that fades early.
Charging habits that help
Charge indoors at room temperature, avoid running the pack completely flat as a routine, and let lead-acid packs complete a full 8 to 10 hour cycle. Partial top ups are fine for lithium packs and are generally kinder than deep cycling.
Storage matters as much as charging
If the ride sits unused, store the battery at a partial charge in a heated space and top it up every few weeks. Leaving a battery flat in an unheated Ontario garage over winter is the fastest way to lose capacity permanently.
When to get it tested
Sudden range loss, a pack that will not hold charge, or a charger that behaves oddly all warrant a proper diagnostic. Our service department tests batteries and chargers on the brands we sell.
